I would give this 5 stars.
It makes you appreciate your life and what you have...I don't want to ruin it for others who have not seen it, but it does make you think of your upbringing, what you had or didn't have and to be grateful.
I cried several times thru this movie.

I actually own it and I have to say I agree with you. It is tough, but worth it. That one monologue that Monique does is UNBELIEVABLE. She nailed it.
I totally agree with your review. Hard to watch, but a very good movie.
I forgot to mention that Mariah Carey does a fantastic job! I didn't even know it was her, my husband is the one who called it!
