What to do while sick.....

Play in the backyard in your PJ's...

Maybe she is trying to catch flies? Yawning maybe? Not sure what she is really doing, probably back talking me, she is a grumpy sick kid...

Hang on your older bro and watch the tube...

Watch the tube alone... rest, right?

Play Guitar Hero with your older sis...

and my favorite thing to do while sick, is check the grass for Ladybugs...

We had a bunch of them over the weekend and then, well the gardeners came and now they seem to be gone....oh well it was fun to find them while they were here! Other then all this, Brandon has been napping a whole lot longer, he needs the ZZZZZZZZZZ's. They both have colds. I originally thought Brandon had an ear infection and took him to the ped on Friday and she said no ear infection but it looks like he is getting a Sinus Infection and put him on meds and told me to bring him back in 10 days...poor kid. Now we have this Swine Flu garbage going around, very scary stuff. We have told the older kids they MUST wash their hands when they come home every day and if they are around someone who is coughing they need to high tale it outta there! I will just keep praying that this stuff doesn't spread anymore!

Morning Meditation - First Lutheran Church

Switcheroo
In our sinfulness, it is impossible for us to find God. Our sinful nature prevents us from reaching out to God on our own. Instead, we invariably reach out for other things, other persons, assuming that these are good or better. We substitute bad for good, imperfect for perfect, transient for eternal - and in our sinfulness we don't know any better! The amazing grace of Jesus' life, death and resurrection is that he accomplishes a switcheroo, allowing for God to come to us and substitute Himself for our feeble idols. In Jesus taking on our sin, we receive His righteousness. And when the Holy Spirit works faith in our hearts, we are able to perceive this more clearly, making the good new of Jesus Christ truly the greatest news possible! Praise God that He fulfills His promises. Praise God that He does all the work that we cannot - performing the switcheroo in Jesus, and bringing us to faith in the Holy Spirit!
This was printed in the front of the bulletin of my parents church, First Lutheran. I don't know who comes up with these Morning Meditations, but I sure like them and wanted to share them with you!

Playing in the 90 + degree weather

Brandon loves the Dora sprinkler...

Serena actually was cold, believe it or not! It was 94 degrees this day! This was last Saturday the 18th.
Playing together...

Lovin' the water!

Serena sportin' her new suit and that is Brandon's finger...not sure what he is doing, it looks like he is showing off that he is double jointed??
Anyways, the weather here has been hot for a few days and then cold for a few days. Really odd for this time of year. I am a summer person, totally. I cannot wait for the hot days to begin and stay!

A day at the beach

Hayden buried up to his neck....like the chips by his face? Well....Hayden and his friend, Damien dug a huge hole and decided to bury Hayden in it. There were seagulls all over the place trying to eat our food and Damien thought it would be funny if the birds came to eat the chips by Hayden's face...
Serena in my Disneyland sweatshirt. It was pretty cold at the beach that day, this was last week on the 14th...

Damien tickling Hayden's back and Serena is laughing...

ok enough already, dig him out! LOL

Chloe, my friend Marie's daughter and Brandon...

Serena got hot enough to take the sweatshirt off....

Part of my friend, Marie and her son, Ben.

Serena throwing sand on her brother, caught in the act! Chloe is there, too, but Serena is blocking her.
We had a fun time at the beach, even though the weather was cold and crappy.

Happy Birthday Kylie!

Serena posing with the cake box and a candle...

She wanted to help make Kylie's cake...

Little hands are so cute!

My baby blowing out her candles!

It is hard to see, but I put the candles to be the number 14, since this is how old Kylie turned on her birthday, April 13th! I am late posting but that is ok, at least I got it on here, right!
Happy Birthday Kylie!

Easter 2009

Here are the baskets! Serena's is on the left, she got a coloring/activity book and 4 crayons, a Barbie movie and some candy. Brandon got a Plex plush toy, 2 Hot Wheels Cars and some candy. The big kids got a hacky sac and some candy....no basket for them.

Finding her basket, first thing Easter morning...

She is so happy with the Barbie movie!

Brandon checking out his cars from the Easter Bunny...
Looking at his Plex toy, checkin' him out! He was not really into this guy, so we ended up giving it to a little boy at church, who can appreciate it more. He is older then Brandon and his mom and dad are living with an older gentleman from my parents church. They are homeless. His dad lost his job...the dad was working for his dad, the grandpa, at a huge company. He had a company car, credit card and was doing well. The dad confronted the grandpa about an affair he was having with the office manager and well he fired him, took everything away from him and his family, so they are homeless and no car, nothing. So, this little boy, Kevin is his name, was happy when we gave him this toy. God Bless him and his mom and dad.
Here are more pics of Easter, egg coloring and the egg hunt. Enjoy!

Incredible Video

I was just checking my e-mail and my Aunt Elly sent this to me. It is an incredible video, it is long, like 7 min long, but worth the watching:

Click here to see the video. Unbelievable! :)

Our Trip to Santa Barbara Zoo

We went to the zoo last Saturday, to celebrate Kylie's 14th Birthday! Her actual birthday was Monday, April 13th, but we decided last minute to go on Saturday to the Zoo. It is spring break for the kids this week, and we have been busy! We went to the beach on Tuesday, I will post that later this week with a link to pics, we had fun even though it was cold! LOL

Click here for the zoo pics. Enjoy!

Interesting Reading ~ yes another one

SPECIAL OLYMPICS TAKES ON USE OF "R-WORD"

I got this link from my sister and I thought it was worth a post.

Click here to read an interesting article.

This is very interesting reading and I was sort of shocked when I read what our President said. Go ahead and read the article, tell me what you think.

I know it made me think of what words come out of my mouth, and I am guilty, but I have been working on changing what comes out of my mouth, think before I speak and I have been working on my family's words, too. :)

Here are the seeds in the little pots, aren't they cute???
We had a blast planting our garden last Saturday it was beautiful out, the weather was just perfect.

Serena's Claws!

These are Serena's home made finger claw things that Kylie made! I think they are a hoot!

No More Ta~Ta

Well, for those of you who don't know, ta~ta is our word for "nurse" as in breastfeed....and I am proud to announce that Brandon is finally done! He has not had ta~ta in over a 10 days! He will nap most days if I am lucky, haha and some days he does not. He goes to bed some days earlier then others, like the last few nights he has gone to bed just after I get Serena down which is 8:00. Some nights are better then others.

I am just happy this time has come! We bonded for long enough, now time for him to learn a few more words, to make complete sentences! He has started to say more mama, when he wants more food.

Teeth

Ok, the first pic is Brandon's teeth, well the one on the right is chipped....so we had to go to a pediatric dentist, and she is wonderful! I liked her soooo much, I took Serena back and she is now our dentist. Brandon's tooth cannot be bonded, it would be too hard to try and get such a small piece to adhere to his small tooth and then it probably would fall off anyways, as kids his age are always bumping into things. I filed it down the best I could and she will be checking it every time Serena has an appt.
The second pic is Serena's teeth. She too, has a small chipped tooth in front, the same tooth as Brandon's. I think they both chipped their teeth on a candy necklace mom got from the candy store one day, it was for Serena and Brandon got a hold of it. Bad choice mom! Serena had her 1st dental appt on Monday this week, and the dentist has decided to do her teeth in a 3 part session, not charging for all the visits, isn't that nice? This way, Serena will get used to having her mouth open and different tools going in there and she will eventually relax a little when we are there. She has some crowding and an overbite, otherwise her teeth are in great shape! Thanks MOM for brushing them everyday!
