Morning Meditation - First Lutheran Church

Switcheroo
In our sinfulness, it is impossible for us to find God. Our sinful nature prevents us from reaching out to God on our own. Instead, we invariably reach out for other things, other persons, assuming that these are good or better. We substitute bad for good, imperfect for perfect, transient for eternal - and in our sinfulness we don't know any better! The amazing grace of Jesus' life, death and resurrection is that he accomplishes a switcheroo, allowing for God to come to us and substitute Himself for our feeble idols. In Jesus taking on our sin, we receive His righteousness. And when the Holy Spirit works faith in our hearts, we are able to perceive this more clearly, making the good new of Jesus Christ truly the greatest news possible! Praise God that He fulfills His promises. Praise God that He does all the work that we cannot - performing the switcheroo in Jesus, and bringing us to faith in the Holy Spirit!
This was printed in the front of the bulletin of my parents church, First Lutheran. I don't know who comes up with these Morning Meditations, but I sure like them and wanted to share them with you!
